FAQ
Is it better to have dirty hair for my appointment?
Please arrive with clean, dry hair whenever possible. While you may have heard that "dirty hair is better," excessive oil, dry shampoo, or product buildup can create a barrier that makes it more difficult for lightener and color to perform at their best.
A fresh wash the day before—or the morning of your appointment if you don't typically use heavy styling products—is perfect.
How often should I wash my hair?
I recommend waiting at least 48 hours before shampooing to give your fresh color the best opportunity to fully settle and maximize its longevity.
After that, aim to wash your hair 2–3 times per week. Washing less frequently can help extend the life of your color, while still keeping your scalp and hair healthy.
How often should blondes use purple shampoo/masks?
Purple shampoo and masks are wonderful for keeping blonde hair bright and neutral—but when it comes to toning products, more isn't always better.
I recommend waiting at least two weeks after your blonding appointment before using a purple shampoo or mask. This helps preserve the fresh gloss and tone we created in the salon.
After that, using a purple shampoo or mask about once a week is a great starting point, though the right routine depends on your hair, your water, and how quickly your blonde tends to warm up. During your appointment, I'll recommend a schedule that's customized just for you.
Using purple products too often can lead to buildup, leaving your blonde looking darker, duller, or even a little muddy over time.
If you prefer a purple shampoo, I also recommend following it with a nourishing conditioner or hydrating mask, since toning shampoos can be more drying than your regular shampoo.
